Barn conversions speak for themselves – our task was to provide good quality living space from buildings that, lets be honest, have been used for over a hundred years, for anything but quality living. The photographs in our case study show the condition of these buildings overall and the fact they had little or no character to work with.
As we say on many of our projects good quality, traditional materials go a long way to achieving the right result and we think this one hits the mark on all counts. The design has provided a considerable amount of living space and what were once dilapidated farm buildings now provide sumptuous surroundings for the client.
The planners were very insistent on tradition with this conversion. Every part of the design and build had this firmly in mind, even though we were able to produce some large, light and airy spaces for the rooms. Whilst much new Oak had to be designed and used on the project many of the original timbers were also retained and enhanced. Any modern materials found necessary have been carefully hidden away from view.
We think the photographs speak for themselves and the client will hopefully have many happy years living in the converted barns!
